Mission: Naugatuck Valley Community College offers quality, affordable education and training in response to evolving community needs by providing opportunities to individuals and organizations to develop their potential.

Vision: We envision Naugatuck Valley Community College to be the first choice for cultivating learning, leaders, and lives in innovative ways.

Goals: Since their inception, America’s community colleges have served as a gateway for all people desiring to improve their knowledge and skills in pursuit of the American dream. For four decades, Naugatuck Valley Community College has been on a journey, continuously evolving and expanding its level of service to the community through the leadership and creative talents of its faculty and staff. In order to maintain that responsiveness to the needs of the community, we must plan strategically and continually improve our programs and services. Our Strategic Plan will help us focus on emerging priorities, make better decisions about the allocation of resources, and assist us in crafting the next phase of our journey. The seven goals contained in our Strategic Plan are coordinated with Legislative, Community-Technical College System, and Council of Presidents’ goal statements. Those other goal statements, as well as data from local environmental scanning and analysis of emerging trends, were used in developing our plan. The seven NVCC goals have accompanying specific objectives that are targeted for achievement over the next three years. It is our goal to:

  1. Provide academic standards and best practices that foster student achievement.
  2. Establish and integrate effective planning, implementation, and evaluative procedures linked to wise resource allocation.
  3. Encourage the intellectual and personal development of our students.
  4. Advance the college’s reputation as a quality institution of higher education.
  5. Provide access to professional development opportunities that enhance and promote employee excellence and support a work environment.
  6. Foster a climate of mutual respect, diversity, responsible citizenship.
  7. Lead the region in workforce training and career development that enhances the employability of all learners.
