- HISTORY
- Naugatuck Valley Community College was established in 1992 as a
"community based" college in which students are provided opportunities according
to their interests and abilities.
- LOCATION
- Waterbury, Connecticut at the intersection of Interstate 84 and
Connecticut Route 8.
- FACILITIES
The 110 acre campus has air-conditioned classroom and laboratory facilities
for general and specialized use. The Learning Resource Center (LRC)
supports the college's mission and academic curricula through its
specialized services and diverse collection of materials and online
resources. The Student
Center supports student activities and offers a full-service cafeteria. NVCC is home to
one of Connecticut's three observatories. Each year hundreds of citizens come to campus to
view the "heavens." Over 900 networked computers are available for student use.
The campus provides cultural programs for the region in the Fine Arts Center which houses
two theatres, music and dance studios, video studios, and rehearsal rooms. Convenient,
safe, and ample parking is available in parking garages and outdoor lots close to each
section of the campus.
- ENROLLMENT
- Approximately 4800 credit students per semester and 7000 credit-free
students per annum come to the college.

- 97% hold advanced degrees in their area of specialization.

- Instruction throughout the year with Fall and Spring Semesters and a
Summer Session.

- Over 35 clubs, organizations, and professional and honor societies.

- Intercollegiate men's basketball and baseball and women's softball
and basketball.
- SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
- Cooperative Education, Career Services, English as a Second Language,
Veterans Affairs, Services for Minority Students, Students with Physical Disabilities,
Students with Learning Disabilities, Student Leadership Development Program, Adult
Transition Program, Business and Industry Training Seminars, and Special Interest
Programs.

- Credit courses: Connecticut residents: 1998-99 part-time tuition rate
of $67/credit; full-time tuition and fees, $907/semester ($1,814/year). Credit-free
program fees vary.
- SCHOLARSHIPS/FINANCIAL AID
- Diverse financial aid program awarding scholarships, grants, loans,
and work-study opportunities provided through federal, state, and private sources.
- ACCREDITATION
- New England Association of Schools and Colleges; Connecticut Board of
Governors for Higher Education; several special program accreditations including the
American Bar Association, National League of Nursing, and the Technology Accreditation
Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
