NVCC students, alumni invited to attend Career Fair 2008 on March 24

WATERBURY, Conn. (March 12, 2008) – Naugatuck Valley Community College is holding “Career Fair 2008” on Monday, March 24, to give students and alumni the chance to meet with more than 50 employers from around the state.

The event will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in Café West on the fifth floor of the Cistulli Student Center on NVCC’s main campus, 750 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. 

Representatives from the health care, public safety, finance, engineering, landscaping, hospitality and manufacturing sectors will be on hand to answer questions and collect résumés.  Students will have the opportunity to explore careers, network and find potential employment, internships and volunteer opportunities. 

Some of the participating companies are the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism, Connecticut Junior Republic, New Opportunities, Inc., Social Security Administration, St. Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury Hospital, Torrington Police Department, and Waterbury Public Schools.

There will also be several workshops held by NVCC Career Services on résumé writing, cover letters, interviewing etiquette and career planning, which are free but require registration.  For more information or to make an individual appointment, call (203) 575-8223. 

Naugatuck Valley Community College serves approximately10,000 credit and non-credit students across western Connecticut.  The college is a non-residential institution, located at the intersection of Route 8 and Interstate 84, with more than 100 accredited programs leading to associate degrees or professional certification.
