| Register now for NVCC’s summer Kids on Campus program
Registration is now open for NVCC’s Kids on Campus program, which runs from July 30 to Aug. 3 and is available to children across western Connecticut who will be entering fourth through 10th grades this fall.
WATERBURY (May 10, 2007) — Registration is now open for Naugatuck Valley Community College’s popular Kids on Campus summer learning program that offers 27 courses in music, art, science and technology.
Available to children across western Connecticut who will be entering fourth through 10th grades this fall, Kids on Campus runs one week, from July 30-Aug. 3, with classes from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Prices start at $119 and vary by class.
Some of the new offerings this year include “Weird and Wild Science,” “Everything Music,” “Hip Hop Dance” and “Rockets, Balloons and Parachutes.” The class lineup also features a host of old favorites such as photography, architecture, cooking, art, computer and theater classes.
For the past 25 years, Kids on Campus has been a two-week program, offering courses in the morning and afternoon. In preparation for a new model that will launch in 2008, the program has temporarily been shortened to one week with classes held only in the morning.
Beginning next year, the program will go back to two weeks with classes in both the morning and afternoon and students will have more options than before. They can choose to take one class for one week or up to four different classes during the two week program.
The program is held at NVCC’s main campus at 750 Chase Parkway in Waterbury, off Exit 18 on Interstate 84. Last year, the Kids on Campus program served nearly 300 children from throughout western Connecticut.
Courses are filled on a first-come, first-served basis — and some fill up before the June 21 deadline. To get a copy of the catalog or ask questions about scholarships, call (203) 575-8029. The catalog is also available online at www.nvcc.commnet.edu/kids.
