WATERBURY (April 6, 2007) — Students from Naugatuck Valley Community College’s Theater Department will perform “Café Cabaret” — a show featuring a collection of songs from musicals like “Company,” “Baby” and “Chicago” — on Friday and Saturday, April 13-14.
NVCC’s intimate Playbox Theatre, with fewer than 100 seats, will be transformed into a stage door café for the 8 p.m. performances, complete with a working coffee bar and dessert menu for the audience to enjoy.
Developed from a semester-long music theater course, the Café Cabaret will include material from composers like Bob Merrill, Stephen Sondheim, Keith Herrmann, David Shire and others.
The singers will be accompanied by Sariva Goetz, Broadway vocal coach and pianist who is also the show’s musical director, together with her husband veteran Broadway musician/bass player Michael Goetz. The production will be led and produced by Ed Wierzbicki, two-time Emmy nominee and associate professor of theatre arts.
The cast includes: Katie Keough of Meriden; Naomi Lee of Torrington; Kadie Tolderlund of Wolcott; Tim Lee of Torrington; Christopher Stokes of Wolcott; Alvi Ginga of Waterbury; Devin Brown of Oakville; Jennifer Hughes of Prospect; Kaitlin Izzi of Waterbury; Lance Gaston of Waterbury; Mark Gardner of Waterbury; Sandra Valente of Naugatuck; Tom Kmetzo of Middlebury; Vilai Bouttaphom of Wolcott; Dana Daunis of Watertown; and Natalia Collazo of New Haven.
Due to the limited number of seats in the theater, reservations are suggested. Tickets are $12. To buy tickets or make reservations, call the NVCC Fine Arts Center box office at (203) 575-8193. NVCC is located at 750 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, off exit 18 on Interstate 84.
