NVCC to host cactus sale and show March 31, April 1
WATERBURY (March 21, 2007) — Naugatuck Valley Community College will host the 24th annual Connecticut Cactus and Succulent Society Show and Sale on Saturday and Sunday, March 31 and April 1.
The show will feature displays, auctions, educational demonstrations and 20-minute lectures on a variety of topics, including, “Hardy Cacti for the Connecticut Garden” and “Care and Feeding of Succulent Plants.”
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 1. It will be held in Café East and Café West on the fifth floor of the Student Center at NVCC, which is located at 750 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, off Exit 18 on Interstate 84.

NVCC is only one of two colleges in Connecticut that offer a degree in horticulture, which is designed to prepare students for further education at a four-year university or help them find jobs in landscaping, greenhouses, garden centers and related businesses.
In all, the college offers more than 100 associate degrees and certificates to students living in 35 communities across western Connecticut from Litchfield to Waterbury to Seymour to Southbury and Danbury.
