Bagpipes, choir to commemorate 5th anniversary of Sept. 11 terrorist attacks
WATERBURY (Sept. 8, 2006) — Naugatuck Valley Community College will commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with a 30-minute ceremony featuring a bagpiper and the NVCC Choral Society.
The service will begin at 12 p.m. Monday on the plaza across from Kinney Hall at NVCC, 750 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. The public is invited to attend. There is visitor parking in the Kinney Hall parking lot.
David F. Machell, a professor of justice and law administration at Western Connecticut State University, will play the bagpipes. Harold Schramm, a professor of English and justice and law administration at WCSU, will do a reading, which will be followed by a piece sung by the NVCC Choral Society.
NVCC serves more than 5,600 students from 35 communities across western Connecticut from Litchfield to Waterbury to Seymour to Southbury and Danbury. It is located at 750 Chase Parkway off Exit 18 on Interstate 84.
