Prepare for fall SATs with July, August courses at NVCC
WATERBURY (July 21, 2006) — High school sophomores and juniors who plan to take the SAT this fall can sign up now for courses in July and August at Naugatuck Valley Community College to help them prepare for both the math and verbal/critical writing portions of the newly revamped college aptitude exam.
The five-session SAT math workshop meets daily from 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. from Monday, July 31, to Friday, Aug. 4. Successful completion of a full year of geometry is a prerequisite.

Both courses review test-taking strategies and problem solving techniques, and include practice sessions to help students gain a better understanding of the problems that commonly appear on SAT. The new SAT formats also will be discussed.
Cost for each course is $139, which includes College Board materials.
The next SAT exam is being held Oct. 14, with a registration deadline of Sept. 12. It will be offered again Nov. 4, with a registration deadline of Sept. 29.
