Mission

The primary function of the Office of Institutional Research (OIR) is to collect, analyze, and report on information to support administrative decision-making, strategic planning, and college assessment activities. We rely on various sources of data, from reports generated by the Banner system to information collected on an ad hoc basis for special projects. All research conducted by the OIR is governed by the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) Code of Ethics.

Some of our duties include:

• Preparing mandated reports for state, regional, and federal agencies
• Participating in system-wide initiatives such as the Community College Survey of Student Involvement (CCSSE), the EMSI socioeconomic benefits study, Achieving the Dream, the Entering Student Survey, and the Graduate Survey
• Working with the seven goal teams to implement the College's Strategic Plan
• Acting as a common, centralized source for official information about the College
• Responding to requests for institutional data
• Assisting departments with program evaluations and outcomes assessment studies
• Supporting faculty research and curriculum development by acting as a resource for questions related to survey design, research methodology, data collection, statistical analysis, and interpretation of results.
