Can I pay for tuition in smaller payments?
Yes. All you need is $375 to get started. Print a copy of the Tuition Installment Plan .
Can I get financial aid for the CNA course?
Sorry. There is no financial aid available for any of our non-credit courses. Free CNA training may be available from Workforce Connection if you meet specific income criteria. Please contact Lucretia Sveda, (203) 575-8221 for information. Also, some employers offer tuition reimbursement. Please check directly with your employer.
I have family to care for. Do CNA’s have flexible working hours?
CNA’s have many employment opportunities available to them with different work schedules.
There are other CNA programs. Are they all the same?
NVCC is proud to have a program that more than meets minimum standards set by the State and includes onsite State Competency Testing in the cost of the course (a $118 value).
I haven’t worked in a while and my certification has lapsed. What should I do?
Call the Department of Public Health, Nurse Aide Registration at (860) 509-7596. You may be required to either take the CNA course again or to retake the State Certification exam.
I am certified in another state. How can I work in Connecticut?

I want to be a nurse. Do you have a nursing program?
Yes. NVCC has an Associate Degree program preparing you as a Registered Nurse. Call the Admissions Office at (203) 575-8040 for more information. Many students begin with the CNA program, earning money to continue their education. Some may wish to add skills in our PCT program and climb the health care career ladder. Call (203) 596-2108.
NURSE AIDE CERTIFICATION (CNA)
Here’s your opportunity to enter into a health care career. Certified Nurse Aides are valuable members of the health care team who are able to work in a variety of settings including acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home care, hospice, physicians’ offices, out-patient clinics, and rehabilitation facilities. They are qualified to perform many important functions for people in need, such as providing personal care and measuring vital signs under the supervision of Registered Nurses. CNA’s can expect to earn $26,000 – $37,500 per year.
It’s easy to get started.
We offer a variety of course schedules to meet your needs. Choose the one that fits you best. You will
participate in classroom discussions and lectures. You will have a chance to try out new skills in a safe
and comfortable environment in our new simulated labs and then to gain experience in a clinical setting.
Experienced instructors will facilitate your learning in all areas. After successful completion of
our program you will be prepared to take the Competency Skills and Written Examination. This exam
is given on-site and is included in the cost of the course. Upon passing this exam you are required to
submit an application to be listed on the Connecticut Nurse Aide Registry.

PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN (PCT)
Patient Care Technicians are employed in a variety of health care settings. The role and skills of
the PCT may vary depending on what type of patient care is provided within that setting. The
PCT may be involved with assisting patients with the activities of daily living, specimen collection,
and diagnostic testing. The PCT will need technical, clerical and interpersonal skills to
effectively handle the position. Most PCT’s can expect to earn $24,960 - $ 37,500 per year and commonly
work shifts that may include nights, weekends and holidays.

A limited number of scholarships are being made available to qualified students enrolled in the Certified Nurse Aide, Patient Care Technician, Phlebotomy Technician, or Medical Coding & Billing Specialist programs.
