An Associate's Degree Program

The Associate in Aviation Science
Degree Program is a unique aviation program offered through Naugatuck Valley
Community-Technical College and licensed by the Connecticut Board of Higher Education.
Students are provided with the educational background and training required to seek a
career in aviation as a professional pilot. This is both an academic degree program and a
pilot certification process. Rated pilots can earn credit for their certificates
toward a college degree and obtain additional ratings.
Program
Design
The Aviation
Science Degree Program provides any current pilot or college student, full-time or
part-time, the opportunity to pursue a career in aviation as a professional pilot. The
flight training and theory portions of the program will prepare students to meet the
minimum requirements for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 141 certification for:
private,
commercial,
instrument ,
multi-engine and
flight instructor
ratings.
Transfer
Opportunities
This course of study could also serve as the first
two years of a bachelor's degree in Aviation Science for those students interested in
transferring to a four-year institution. Students could also pursue a bachelor's degree in
one of several standard aviation majors:
Aviation Management,
Air Traffic Control,
Aviation Electronics,
Aviation Maintenance
and
Aviation
Computer Science.
Requirements
Prior to enrollment in either the
Ground School or Flight School Courses, applicants must obtain an appropriate Federal
Aviation Administration (FFA) flight physical. All flight training costs are the
responsibility of the student. Applicants must also seek advisement and approval from the
College Aviation Science Coordinator by calling:
