Purpose
The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) office provides campus-wide services in an effort to promote and maintain a healthy and safe environment for the entire NVCC community.
The EH&S office functions to:
- Develop and administer policies and procedures with the intention of preventing accidents, injuries, and illnesses.
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory bodies such as the local emergency planning office, CT Department of Environmental Protection, ConnOSHA, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
- Provide on-going training to satisfy environmental and occupational health & safety laws.

The office of Environmental Health & Safety is located in the main campus at room 312 of Ekstrom Hall.

The office is staffed by Dana D. Elm, Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator.
Reporting Emergencies
All emergencies (medical, chemical release or exposure, fire, etc.) should be reported to the Public Safety Department by dialing:

NVCC Health & Safety Committee
The Health & Safety Committee meets on a quarterly basis (or more frequently as needed) to address and find solutions for health & safety concerns College-wide.
The membership of the committee meets the specifications of CT Statute 31-40v-4, which requires both employee members and employer members.
